Spirt of Excellence

Spirt of Excellence

This morning I listened to an inspiring message about having a Spirit of Excellence by Joel Osteen. There were so many moving points, but the standout message is: “Always keep working to make the best version of yourself.”

There is a lot going on in the world right now and some of us are filled with stress. This is completely understandable. The most important thing we can do is remain calm, act with integrity. Do the right thing even when no one is watching.

We can help each other right now and we can continue to improve ourselves. There are so many opportunities to express kindness, grace and humanity. I’m not going to let what is happening now make me a scared or weak version of myself. I’m going to rise up, help others as much as I can, strive for excellence and keep growing.

Each day I’ve been asking myself, what can I do today to make today the best it can be?

  • Who can I help?
  • How can I be kind?
  • What can I personally do to make myself better?

I’ve decided each day:

  • Help at least one person (hopefully many more) – need ideas? Look at https://www.randomactsofkindness.org/kindness-ideas
  • Study something new each day – keep growing. Come out smarter than ever – better than ever. – I’m working on developing my coding, design and digital marketing skills.
  • Exercise and fine tune my machine (so many free resources available)
  • Grow in my relationship with God (lots of great free scriptures and study opportunities).
  • Continue to find ways to generate revenue and act with excellence – so many ways to make money online.
  • Look for opportunity in every circumstance
  • Be the best mom I can be
  • Bring value to the company I work for
  • Take care of what I have
  • Leave others feeling better than when I encountered them
  • Act with a spirit of excellence – leave everything better than I found it.
  • Pass the small tests so that I can be ready for the big tests
  • Do the right thing even when no one is looking
  • Spread kindness

I’m sharing this with you because I want to encourage you. This isn’t the time to be afraid. You need to remain calm and look for opportunities in everything you do and encounter. In every crisis we’ve encountered as a people some have continued to thrive and succeed. How did they do this? They kept a positive attitude and stayed open to opportunity.

We challenge you to make your own list of how to use this time to make yourself or your family better.

Joel’s message pointed out that when you do more than what is asked of you, you’ll see God’s goodness in new ways.

Be so skilled, so productive that your organization or client can’t afford to lose you. Take steps to grow. Take chances. Don’t settle. Always try be be better.

What opportunities are around you right now that you can seize? What can you work on today that you’ve been putting off?

Have you been wanting to start a business? Write a book? Launch a website? Launch your podcast? Learn a new skill? Go back to school? Get in shape? Spend time being a great parent?

I’d also like to encourage you to look for opportunities for assistance for you, your family or your business. I’ve found loans, grants, education opportunities and opportunity offers to help sustain you. There are a lot of resources: https://www.sba.gov/page/coronavirus-covid-19-small-business-guidance-loan-resources

I’m encouraging you not to let this time impair your spirit, but instead rise up and shine brighter than ever.
