"A SPIRITUAL FATHER WHO SLEEPS"
2 Timothy 1:1-2"Paul, an Apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, according to the promise of life which is in Christ Jesus, 2 To Timothy, a beloved son: Grace, mercy, and peace from God the father and Christ Jesus our Lord".
"I want to congratulate all the men out there who are working diligently to be good fathers or just spiritual fathers"--T. D. Jakes
I will plead with you to take a few minutes of your time to read this article. It will help you not to take for granted the relationship you have with your church and your Pastor so that it will be well with you both spiritually and physically and in all areas.
1 Peter 2:17"Honor all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honour the king".
My topic, " A spiritual father who sleeps" was a cynical statement someone made on Facebook to ridicule or mock people who were celebrating or honoring a certain big man of God in Ghana on his birthday recently. Since l saw that statement that was meant to mock people who were trying to celebrate someone they consider their spiritual father, there is immense pressure on me by the Spirit of God to write this article to try to correct the misunderstanding that so many people have with regard to those who want to celebrate or honor their Pastor's or spiritual father's.
1 Corinthians 2:14" But people who aren't spiritual can't receive these truths from God's Spirit. It all sounds, foolish to them and they can't understand it, for only those who are spiritual can understand what the spirit means"
I also use to think that those who honor their Pastor's or spiritual leaders/fathers are overdoing it or are embarrassing themselves and those they seek to honor or celebrate. I discarded that notion when I began to see men of God l respect and love both in my country and outside my country praying for me and pouring oil on my head very often in my dreams.
If you check the New testament it was only on two occasions that God Himself filled people with His Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues. On all the other occasions, God used those He had already filled with His Spirit to pray for those who desire to be filled with the Holy Spirit. What l am saying is that every spiritual gift or grace gifts you need today can be impacted by the man/woman of God you respect and honor.
Futhermore, scripture clearly teaches us that our spiritual connection to genuine spiritual fathers or Pastor's gives us physical and spiritual protection.
See Hosea 12:13 "Then by a prophet(Moses) the Lord brought Jacob's descendents out of Egypt;and by that prophet they were protected"
And Hebrews 13: 17 says, "Obey your spiritual leaders, and do what they say. Their work is to watch over your SOULS, and they are ACCOUNTABLE to God. Give them reason to do this with joy and not with sorrow. That would certainly not be for your benefit."
I have been a Pastor for more than 15 years now and I can tell you several stories that will encourage you not to feel stupid for loving and honoring genuine men of God even though they may not be perfect in your estimation.
One night in my sleep I saw myself entering a gated house. When I entered the compound I saw several rooms but I walked straight to one of the doors and opened it. When I entered l saw a lady in our church tied like a sheep about to be slaughtered surrounded by three fearful looking men. Who have tied their waist with small pieces of red clothes. I asked them what they were doing with my church member and they said, "someone contracted us to kill her spiritually" . They were speaking one of the local languages in Ghana . "When we are done with her spiritually, she will die suddenly in three days". I shouted, "In the name of Jesus Christ, you can't kill her because she is my church member".I began praying calling fire. They run out of the room and I untie my church member and we left that compound before l realized it was a dream. If you don't understand spiritual things you will say, "This was just a mere dream with no significance" you will only say that because you don't know that we live simultaneously in a physical and a spiritual world. What happens in the spiritual realms depending on whether it is good or evil has serious implications on us in this physical world.
Many genuine ministers of God have died untimely and have been afflicted with strange diseases because of their love to meet the spiritual needs of people.
Several years ago, when l was in Bible College, we heard about the death of a Pastor we all knew in that Bible College. He died in an accident when he was returning from the funeral of a church members parent funeral. He left the wife and kids!
People who respect and love men of God and their spiritual fathers are not "gullible fools". They know the sacrifices of genuine men of God and the spiritual and the physical implications of respecting those who work tirelessly to feed them with the word of God and prays for the preservation of their lives and souls.
Be spiritual! Don't apologize for being spirituallly wise! You are not a fool for supporting the work of God and minister's of God with your ability and resources. God will reward you!
Create a life that feels good on the inside, not just one, that looks good on the outside!
Logic will get you from point A to B. Imagination, spirituality and faith in God will take you everywhere.
Honor God. Honor your parents. Honor your Pastor and spiritual fathers and your life will be preserve and you will enjoy peace, mercy, grace and favor!
Have a blessed Friday and a peaceful weekend!---Pastor Christian Mawuko. Golden Gospel Church. Accra, Ghana.
