Every Saturday morning in Eastern Market's bustling Shed 5, a rainbow of sights, sounds and mouth watering aromas converge around one vibrant outpost: Flavorful Creations, the vegan pastry booth helmed by owner Sarah Reed. "Welcome, welcome! You've gotta try the lemon run cakes," Sarah calls out with a beaming smile, dishing out generous samples to passersby. "What I enjoy best about being an entrepreneur overall is the sense of freedom that you get and it’s the sense that you took a chance on yourself and you believed in yourself and you encouraged yourself to just keep going."

That optimistic spirit is on full display amid the near-constant flurry of activity surrounding Flavorful Creations' stall. Customers clamor for warmly-spiced muffins, decadent truffles, and other botanical indulgences that defy expectations of vegan fare.
