Spirit of The Peaceful Warrior

“There is a candle in your heart, ready to be kindled.

There is a void in your soul, ready to be filled.

You feel it, don't you?” ― Rumi

Before we transition from the Emotional powerhouse to the Spiritual one, I feel it is important to define how we will use the term “spiritual” in this context. In this context the term spiritual is not only limited to religion, but extends to encompass all forms of devotion one might feel deeply defining his or her ideologies and belief systems. Our concept orbits around a simple yet powerful notion by Descartes – I believe and therefore I am.

The Spiritual powerhouse connects you with your inner realms. It keeps you grounded at your ‘true depth’ and at peace. It is your compass pointing towards true north in rough seas.?

But first, it needs to be nurtured.

Ouroboros:?The End of the Loop or the beginning?

We say ‘End of the Loop’ because the Spiritual powerhouse is where it all comes full circle, or does it?

In the series it is the last remaining bastion of self-discovery in the powerhouse saga. The last remaining piece of the ‘superhuman puzzle’. You’ll recall I mentioned earlier that we need the balance between physical, spiritual, mental, and emotional, to achieve that delicate balance.?

Well the Spiritual powerhouse is powered by whatever it is you truly believe in. Your sense of purpose. Your sense of existence. It can be Religion, Humanism, Consequentialism, Deontological-Virtues, Nihilism or just a desire to attain peace? Whatever it is it lies at the root of your being, and it is only through self-exploration that you will be able to locate it, and utilise its power for a higher purpose.

The Cradle of Life: Why Am I Here?

What is your reason for being on this earth? It’s a fair question, and if I’m being honest, one that I’ve asked myself a number of times.

When it comes to finding your sense of purpose, the only advice I can give is to listen to your inner voice, and let it act as your guide. Irrespective of whether or not you’re religious, everybody has an inner voice. We are born with that inner voice, nurturing it and listening to it is just the first step in this journey of self-discovery. Be curious, read, learn, unlearn, to find the true meaning of your existence, as it is ultimately your life’s purpose, which drives your spirituality.?

Self-Fulfilling Prophecies?

This being the case it should come as no surprise then that having no sense of purpose, while drifting mindlessly, endlessly towards a void is one of the biggest drainage points of the Spiritual powerhouse and consequently creates a negative void in your inner realms. It’s not a surprise that there will always be something lacking in those driven by greed instead of spirit, taking short term perspective vs eternal perspective. They will find their so-called victories to be hollow. Devoid of any real substance drifting slowly into chaos and noise.

Work for a Cause or be the Cause?

You’ll find, as you get older and you accrue more and more experience, that your moral code is always ‘self-tuning.’ What do I mean by self-tuning? As your knowledge pool deepens and your understanding of the elements around you further develops, you’ll find your moral code ‘corrects’ automatically. Though the framework will always likely remain the same, you learn to let go of many pre-conceived notions and your casting of judgments dissipates (though not professionally, of course).

This being said moral flexibility or extreme inflexibility is another potential depletion point of the Spiritual powerhouse. You’ll find that resisting this auto-correction only delays your development.

The human mind (and body) is a venerable marvel. Despite thousands of years of existence there remain many unanswered questions about ‘Man.’ And the human spirit is a galactic enigma. A universe in its own. If you’ve ever seen those ‘Amazing Human Feat’ or ‘People are Awesome’ compilation videos on social media, you’ll know what I’m talking about. Whether it’s surfing a tidal wave, cycling down a mountain or Banzai skydiving, for many of us there burns a fire deep within our soul to make the impossible possible.

It’s what gives our life meaning.?

The Pygmalion Effect: Selflessness with Bounds

As the old saying goes sometimes you have to be selfish to be selfless.

As someone with colossal ambitions for the life I wanted to create both for myself, and those around me, the question of selfishness v. selflessness arose many times. ???

Imagine a plain, where all the human beings on earth have been herded together like cattle with you among them. You look up at the open skies and behold vibrant hues of yellow, red and purple cascading together as the sun sets. Then you notice people, scattered among the clouds. You stare up in wonder and feel this intense burning desire to be among them. But as you turn your attention back to the plains you see everyone else, looking down at the ground or empathetically to you. You feel stuck among those who cannot comprehend your ambition to reach the clouds, and you feel frustrated knowing they’ve chosen to accept their fate.

But you fight. You fight your whole life, and with every fibre of your being to one day sit among the clouds. And you do it not just for you, but so that one day you can help somebody else make that same journey.

This is what it means to me to be selfless. And this is why I so vehemently believe what I believe.

Syed Haris Raza very well written article. what got my attention was ""it is ultimately your life’s purpose, which drives your spirituality.?"". As your rightly said, slightly paraphrasing that most people confuse spirituality with religion, They can be same but does not have to be, Your style of writing is very deep, keep them coming.

:)...on that plain...be mindful that there might also be those who are neither looking towards the clouds, nor into the ground. There would be those content with where they are. Interesting read.
