The Spirit of Medicine Revealed

The Spirit of Medicine Revealed

Show Notes:

Mindset is medicine for both the physician and patient. Medicine already recognizes the persuasive power of beliefs. The use of placebos is a great example of that. But it's much more than that, especially with chronic, painful vascular ailments such as peripheral artery disease (P.A.D.), which is restricted blood flow in mainly the leg arteries due to plaque build-up. Patients with P.A.D. feel at times as though a tourniquet is wrapped tightly around their legs when they walk. Sometimes the leg pain and cramping wake them up at night. All of that pain, lack of sleep, and sudden shift in mobility can weigh upon mental health. That's why Dr. Paramjit "Romi" Chopra Chopra joins hosts Kym McNicholas and Dr. John Phillips to talk about the powerful combination of science and spirituality to help patients and physicians persevere in challenging life and limb-saving situations.

The fact is that life is hard.

It throws a lot of curveballs at you.

The question is, "How do you keep your head together when your whole world seems to be crashing in?"

Dr. Chopra contends that a joyful existence and health is not absent of problems.

He knows that from personal experience.

Dr. Chopra went down the spiritual path as he, himself, was unhappy despite all of his success.

During the show, he shares his journey to a spiritual awakening and how he uses this to help patients to find acceptance in their current state of existence and to motivate them to live the best life they can where they are in their journey.

This is a powerful show with tangible, actionable ways in which both patients and physicians can create a healing mindset.
