Spirit Driven

Our lives begin from the example of our parents. As time passes, our spirits manifest pushing out and through our DNA to take us to our true destiny.

While surfing Youtube then Wikipedia I noticed a man who exhibits a clear example of this, his name, MICHAEL JAMES HUCKNALL of the group “Simply Red”

Michael took his pain from his early years to forge a successful career and has given others his example of how ones spirit manifests through life’s experiences.

In doing so, he has also shown us when you do what you love doing, you do your best at it!

Born at Saint Mary's Hospital in Manchester, England on 8 June 1960, Michael Hucknall was an only child. His mother abandoned the family when he was three; the upheaval caused by this event inspired him to write "Holding Back the Years”.  The hit song which became one of Simply Red's biggest and best-known hits. 

Michael was brought up in Denton, England by his father, Reginald (1935–2009), a barber in Stockport. According to Hucknall, he had a happy childhood until the age of 10, when he began to clash with his father "because there was no woman to act as referee”.

While living in Hulme, he attended Audenshaw School, before continuing his education at Tameside College and Manchester Polytechnic's School of Art, where he was a fine art student.

In the mid-1990s he reconnected with his mother, Maureen, who was by then living in Dallas, Texas. He had only seen her twice since she left. 

He is of Irish ancestry from his mother, whose father was from County Offaly, along with his paternal grandmother.
