Spinning Plates
We are all balancing multiple priorities. Some days, I feel like a shitty employee, husband, father, partner, and friend. Others days, I do OK and keep all those plates spinning at once. See the picture above, and envision the circus act where the spinner runs back and forth, addressing the plate currently in the most dire need. I heard a presentation today by Paul David Thompson. It really resonated with me. He said that we shouldn't drop the wrong things, plates in this analogy and rubber balls (or fruit) in his juggling analogy. Imagine the "family" plate falling/breaking and being un-repairable (regardless of the amount of superglue). Now, make good choices about where you spend your time, effort, and energy.
