Spin it to win it: The Velomai cycling challenge is back!
Last year in May, DG LINC colleagues cycled over 49.000km and - theoretically - saved 6.4 tonnes of CO2. We are convinced that we can do even better this year and?we want YOU on our team!
What’s green, inclusive and good for your health?
Cycling to work, of course! Anyone working for the European Parliament can register to #Velomai, the interinstitutional cycling challenge, and cyclists of all levels, beginners and athletes alike, stand a chance to win in one of this year’s categories.
The 2023 edition of Velomai promotes cycling as a mode of transport to get to the office. Commuting by bike rather than by car or motorbike is good for you (raising your life expectancy) and for the environment (lowering your carbon footprint)!
How does it work?
We asked our colleague?Laurent Massaut (interpreter in the French booth)?to explain how to participate:
It’s very simple. There is a user-friendly app where you can register your rides. And everything counts, be it a 5 minute ride on an electric bike to drop the kids at school, a 150 km one on a racing bike on a sunny Sunday or a 30 minutes cycling session on a stationary bike at the gym, so there’s really something for everyone! The app also allows you to see the different rankings in real time and how you, your unit or your DG is doing. It’s really fun and actually quite easy to get caught up in the game.
