Spiking training will soon be required for door supervisors

The Home Office has announced that SIA licensed door supervisors will soon be expected to take training on drink spiking. This initative is part of the Government’s broader effort to enhance safety and security for women and girls.

The Home Office will allocate up to £250,000 for training pub and nightclub staff about how to identify potential victims of spiking. The Government is also encouraging venues to display awareness posters about spiking; and to provide a safety measure, such as ‘drink toppers’ to place on top of glasses.

Home Secretary, James Cleverly said: “Tacking violence against women and girls is a personal priority for me and this Government has shown time and again that we will continue to keep the public safe.

Spiking is a perverse crime which can have a lasting impact on victims. Our comprehensive new measures are designed to help police and staff in bars, restaurants, pubs and other premises to protect victims and bring more offenders to justice.”

The Criminal Justice Bill outlined in the King’s Speech in November, will make it clear that spiking is illegal. ??

I think spiking training will be over rated there is not much people can do particularly door supervisors but to prevent the situation by doing checks on people we also don’t really do door supervisors , thank you
