Spike Lee & Doing the Right Thing With Respect to Awards, Accolades and The Arts

Spike Lee degrades himself by playing the sore loser. He is an Artist of extremely high caliber, and it is beneath his dignity, and that of his art, to turn the focus of his art towards winning a popularity contest, no matter the scale (or perhaps, especially in light of the scale). Art is subjective, it is the height of hubris to claim you are somehow owed a Grammy. Pulitzer, or Oscar. It is also beneath the dignity of the arts and a true artist to act as if this wasn't the case. Many of my favorite artists are relatively obscure and lack public recognition or awards, such, however, does not diminish the quality of their art. Too bad Spike seems to not get these general principals about the Arts, and his own artistic contributions...it would lend greater dignity to both Spike and his films, and, he'd be doing the right thing by himself, other artists, and his own art in doing so as well.....
