Spices vs Yellow #5
It has taken a lot of years but, consumers are finally getting food manufacturers to take out most of those nasty sounding chemicals on the ingredients list. For example, Kraft Heinz has replaced Yellow #5 with paprika, turmeric, and other spices to create the signature yellow of its Mac & Cheese.
Guess what, they did this three months ago and no one noticed. "Better for you" claims are the latest hit in food claims with more than 20% of new products claiming no additives or preservatives. This is great news for consumers. For manufacturers and retailers it means that many products will have shorter shelf-lives. Supply chains need to speed up in order to provide consumers with the maximum amount of shelf-life. This means faster order-to-delivery cycles and more frequent deliveries. The only way to do this, without adding cost, is through scale achieved with collaboration. Together we can deliver better products.
