Understanding Vanillin Solutions and Emerging Technologies Panelists

  • Mahdi Abu-Omar, Ph.D., CEO at Spero Renewables LLC: With 27 years of experience in R&D management and innovation, Dr. Mahdi Abu-Omar is the Founder and CEO of Spero Renewables, where he guides the company's business and technical development together with his experienced team. He is the author of more than 200 original scientific publications in peer-reviewed journals and co-inventor of many patents. He is the recipient of the American Chemical Society (ACS) Affordable Green Chemistry Award in 2022. Abu-Omar holds the Endowed Mellichamp Chair in Green Chemistry and is a Professor at the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB).
  • Yang Zhou, Global Sales Director at SiyoMicro Biotech: Yang Zhou is dedicated to promoting precision fermentation in nutrition, cosmetics, food, and Ag segments, aiming to provide high-quality ingredients with a fraction of the carbon emissions, land requirements, and water usage. Zhou holds a Master's Degree in International Business from the University of Mannheim as well as a Master of Business administration degree from the Universit of California, Berkley, Haas School of Business.
