Spend With Ukraine: Etnodim
For young Ukrainians, two years of war have shaped them in countless ways. In addition to a tremendously elevated sense of strength and determination, many have also found themselves feeling more connected than ever to the traditions that have defined Ukrainian culture for centuries.
Today you'll often see young professionals of Ukraine wearing traditional Ukrainian clothing styles blended into their modern aesthetic—and that's an intersection where the clothing brand ETNODIM was already thriving when the trend began to accelerate.
Here on LinkedIn, I'm profiling Ukrainian businesses that you can support as a customer or client through the Spend With Ukraine program, which I'd encourage you to take some time to learn more about on SpendWithUkraine.com.
If you've wondered how you can help Ukraine as its people have endured hundreds of days of unmitigated warfare, I hope you'll consider joining me in supporting Ukrainian businesses who continue to lead the world in innovation and creativity despite unimaginably grueling conditions.
Here's what the founders of Etnodim want you to know about their company:
What does Etnodim do?
Etnodim is a brand of ukrainian ethnic clothing.
We combine traditional ornaments with symbols of the modern history of Ukraine. With the help of clothes, we transfer knowledge about modern values and events to the next generations. We turn to the past in order to create the style of a new generation.
Who created the brand?
Etnodim was founded in 2009 by Andriy Cherukha . Now the company employs nearly 150 people.
Where was the brand born, and where is it based now?
The brand began its journey in 2009 from a town in the Rivne region, as an online store of traditional Ukrainian embroidery. In 2013, Andriy gathered a team and together they began to research and create their own embroidery and modernized ornaments, with a new meaning inherent in the new generation, yet with preserved traditions.
What kind of customers is the brand hoping to reach?
First of all, we would like to connect with Ukrainians living abroad. How important it is to preserve, not lose, and spread throughout one of the symbols of Ukrainian culture—vyshyvanka. (Note from David: vyshyvanka is Ukraine's iconic and diverse style of embroidered shirt design. You can find many nice examples on Etnodim's site here.)

And, of course, we hoping to reach foreigners who care about Ukraine and want to support it.
What is the best way for people to support your business?
First of all, it is important for us that the world does not forget Ukraine and supports it while there is a war with russia. As for our brand specifically, we will be grateful and happy if our products will be bought, worn and people will tell the world about Ukrainian brands.
