Spencer Hays, 1936-2017
"The greatest success goes to those who make up their minds to serve and continue serving despite discouragement, disappointment, frustration, and everything else that causes average people to give up."
Everyone in the family of companies that Spencer Hays led is deeply saddened regarding his recent passing.
This past year, Spencer celebrated many milestones – 80 years of life, 60 years of marriage to Marlene, 60 years of involvement in building character in young people with Southwestern, and the 50th Anniversary of the founding of Tom James Company.
Not only was he a remarkable businessman, but he was a generous benefactor and helper to so many. Spencer leaves a legacy of commitment, service, and of believing in people and who they can become.
Our prayers go out to Marlene, Spencer’s children and grandchildren, and other family members. We simply ask that you keep them in your prayers and thoughts as well.

8 年Spencer Hays is my wife's uncle. 'Spence' is the epitome of what a salesperson should be. Caring, generous, willing to give of his time and energy, and above all, a servant. His business card always had the title Salesman on it even when he was the CEO/Chairman of the Board. We had the good fortune of traveling to Paris France in October 2016 to see him and his wife, Marlene, receive their second Medal of the National Order of the Legion of Honor. This award came after the Hays donated over 600 works of art to The Museum d'Orsay. If you want to see what the American Dream is, read about the life and work of Mr. Spencer Hays. God Bless You Spencer.
I change the world everyday by coaching individuals, teams, and companies on how to solve the Sales Innovation Paradox.
8 年So sad. Such a great company that he developed. Thoughts and prayers go out to the whole Tom James Company.
