Speeding along and Mastering the bends.............

We're all busy, sometimes too busy to see what is actually going on around us and this is often the case with many people I see including Captains of Industry, Business owners, and Individuals. Being busy is great, however you must also take in the peripherals not just what lies straight ahead.
I have been very fortunate in my personal and business life and managed to adjust my direction as the road has come up before me (track in most cases) and through this success have met many leaders, top athletes and world record holders. One such meeting happened at a Lloyds Motor Club meeting in London where I attended a presentation on Bloodhound SSC given by Wing Commander Andy Green. Andy Green has the most wonderful title of being the fastest man on earth . He is the holder of the world land speed record, a mark he set in 1997 with the Thrust Supersonic Car (SSC), pushing that twin-jet machine through the sound barrier, to 763.035 mph over a measured mile, in the crystalline wasteland of Nevada’s Black Rock desert. Now there’s a new goal: 1,000 mph.
Andy explained that at speeds in excess of 700mph just a one half of a degree alteration on the front wing was sufficient to make a difference of an additional 5 tons of downward pressure or literally taking off! Something you need to get just right then. I had numerous meetings with Andy and also Richard Noble the genius behind the projects to discuss various elements of their quest and challenge, all incredible, thoroughly enjoyable and inspiring. If ever there was a team of focused guys attempting, until recently what would have been considered sheer madness, this team personify the quest and true spirit of mankind and it goes without saying, I am a huge fan.
As always, I digested all that I had heard and learned and along with my own successful racing career created a great metaphor for life: 'Anyone can go fast in a straight line' Sure it helps to be able to go fast, however the main difference from setting lap records and winning races is the ability to drive around the bends the quickest! Isn't this the same in life? In both our personal and business lives we have 'bends' everyday don't we? The road is rarely straight and our outcomes are determined on how well and how smoothly we altered direction and got back to the next straight. It should also be a one of our 'goals' to perfect each and every bend time and time again. Lewis Hamilton will, I have no doubt become the World Champion of 2015 not because he is the fastest down each straight but because he mentally and physically perfects each and every bend consistently. You'll hear the term 'straight line the bend' a lot in motor racing.
In my coaching I share with you the simplest and best way to 'straight line' and ease the bends', I share real life experiences that will make you ask questions, not just to me but to yourselves, it will empower you, your business and those around you to really Master the road and course ahead.
I'd like to wish the Bloodhound team the very best of luck and great success.
