Speed Up Your Travel Healthcare Job Application Process

Speed Up Your Travel Healthcare Job Application Process

Your travel healthcare career is just a job submission away. Don’t let the paperwork slow you down. We make it easy and rewarding.

Even before the pandemic, the travel healthcare market was highly competitive. While the demand has lessened somewhat, the competition is still alive and well. Travel healthcare professionals (especially nurses) command higher pay than traditional jobs and allow workers to explore parts of the country they might otherwise never visit.?

Jobs open and close quickly, so the intent of this article is to help you get submitted before your dream job closes. One of the most common challenges we see includes things such as incomplete profiles and slow submission times. The marketplace has changed, and the job market is more competitive. When submitting you are often competing with hundreds of other clinicians, so your resume needs to be up to date and look great (download our resume template).

Understanding the Submission Process

The submission process starts with your recruiter qualifying and getting to know you, and then creating a comprehensive profile for you. You and your recruiter will have conversations about your goals and career aspirations. Getting to know your Anders recruiter will give you a level of confidence about the processes we use and what you may expect going forward.

Your profile typically includes your resume, certifications, required vaccinations, and personal information such as your social security number, driver's license, permanent address (must match driver's license), and date of birth. To ensure a smooth process, make sure all these documents are complete and current. Once your profile is complete, your recruiter will start submitting you for jobs. To make the process faster, visit our job board and apply to the jobs that match your interest and skill set.

Tips To Get Submitted Faster

The submission process can be as streamlined as you make it. By being organized and thorough from the start, each step of the process will go smoother and faster. Any roadblocks that come up can be easily managed with the help of your friendly Anders Group recruiter – always there when you need them.

Preparing Your Resume

  • Contact Details: Legal name with middle initial (no nicknames, etc.), full permanent address that matches your driver’s license (needed for tax-free stipends, per diem, etc.), accurate email, and correct phone number.
  • Education: School name, fields studied, start and end dates (month/year format), city and state.
  • Job Experience: Facility name and agency worked (if applicable), city and state, start and end dates (month/year format), and job details including specific units worked, equipment used, EMR/charting systems used, number of beds, and trauma level. All gaps over 30 days need to be addressed in the resume (ex. time off with family from month/year to month/year). Gaps are not an issue but do need to be addressed on the resume.

Additional Information Needed

  • Certifications: Ensure certifications are current and send photos (ex. BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, ARDMS, ARRT, etc.). If any will expire within one month, we need to include the expected date of recertification.
  • Driver’s License and Covid Card (photo images): Some facilities require Covid cards. If you don’t have one, please provide a medical or religious exemption (if available).?

Communication Is Key

Effective communication with your recruiter is an important first step, so be timely in your responses when asked for additional information from your recruiter. Please share your available start date, shifts you are willing to work, as well as dates/times you are available for interviews. All requested time off needs to be shared with your recruiter before submitting. If you are willing to make up that time at the end of your contract, this will help when negotiating time off. Remember, it’s important to be flexible and adaptable regarding start dates, locations, and shifts for your assignments.

Helpful Interview Tips

Some useful interview tips to help your readiness for the interview include addressing units and trauma levels you have experience in. Be prepared to discuss the size of hospitals you’ve worked in, EMR systems, as well as equipment used. Make time to research the facility and location where you are interviewing, making a list of any questions you may have. The length of time to hear back from the facility regarding a job submission and interview can take anywhere from a few hours to a few weeks, depending on the start date, facility, and discipline.
