speed improves the accuracy

Did you use your system in your office environment? You could easy change the temperature more than 1° Celsius in 15 minutes. Even using an granite stand you would get an thermal change of the position between sample and sensor of more than 100 nm per minute. With other materials angular drifts, beding of the stand and tables, heating up of the camera, and the light source the thermal drift can easy go to several 100 nm per minute and have a direct influence to the accuracy of your measurements.

Warm up time combined with climatized conditions could improve the situation - as well as the speed of the measurement.

The combination of high speed camera and real time data calculation on the graphic board make the smartWLI systems extreme fast and accurate. This is the basis for excellent test results. The following test are done using the sensor under office conditions on an small and cost efficient AL column:

Summary:

Excellent tests results and standard deviations down to 0.005% on the 100 μm step are resulting out of the speed improvements combined with state of art extended PSI algorithms processed on the graphic board as well as an perfect control and synchronization of the piezo movement with the data acquisition of the camera.
