NOT A SPECTATOR: GET IN THE GAME.

NOT A SPECTATOR: GET IN THE GAME.

Joel Moses Babatunde, JMB. (Excerpts from my speech at the SOSSA 2018 ORIENTATION).

Have we ever wondered why even as a little child or growing child we have bigger dreams than what we are seeing now? We see ourselves in bigger places than where we see ourselves even as full-fledged adults. This is so because most people out there in their sojourn in life have not come to the realization that our minds are directed and conditioned by two major foremen who are “Mr. Triumph and Mr. Defeat”. Mr. Triumph always releases good and positive vibes while Mr. Defeat does the very direct opposite.

In the stream of spectatorship and getting in the game therefore, people either remain on the negative side or the positive according to how they think. This is to say in essence that some people will be spectators or get in the game because of how they think. The classification of people according to how they are spectators and how a narrow flow could be created to move to the other side of the divide is the major crux of this write up.

A spectator decides to watch an event, show, game or activity either by his/her own volition or by chance. A spectator is usually a part of the audience and not part of the main deal or happenings. A spectator could even be the one taking down the records of the activity but that doesn’t change the fact that as at when the event is happening he/she isn’t involved.

Spectatorship has Balkanized humans into three (3) different people, they are, the people who are oblivious of things happening, people who are onlookers of things happening and people who are catalyst of the things happening.

The first classification of people are so oblivious of the things happening right under their nose simply because they fall in the category of people who surrendered completely. This group of people are convinced that they don’t have the rudiments and ingredients to be successful. Their dreams are dead on arrival because they believe that success and accomplishment are for people who are lucky and fortunate in some special respect.

The second classification of people are those who surrendered partially. The people in this category also have ambitions and are some worth driven by goals as well. These people prepare themselves, they work hard, they plan as well, but after some time, but in a short while when resistance and competition sets in, this same set of people begin to see their own dreams and goals as being too ambiguous and hence will conclude that greater success is not worth the effort. Do you have the fear of failure? The fear of social disapproval? Fear of losing what you already have? Be very careful because you might find yourself in this category.

The third classification of people are those who never surrender. Yes they never surrender because they never allow pessimism dictate to them, they never surrender to suppressive forces, they don’t believe in crawling. Instead these people live and breathe success. They are happy with life because they meet their goals, they find life stimulating, rewarding and worthwhile.

Which of these categories do you fall under? if you fall under the first two please use the action words to get involved. You can also use the action words to stay strong if you are in the third category.
