Specifying the right solution for your customer
The warehouse at Camden Yards in Baltimore, MD is a mixed use large brick building adjacent to the stadium. It moves a heavy amount of freight the entire year but especially during baseball season.
The high volume geared traction service elevators, G and H, were used to transport large objects and heavier freight. These service elevators were not ideally suited for this application. A solution was proposed and approved by the Maryland Stadium Authority. The specified solution was to replace both service elevators with one geared traction freight elevator with Peelle vertical slide biparting freight elevator doors.
Peelle provided 9 (nine) vertical slide biparting power operated hoistway doors, 9'-0" wide X 7'-0" high, with 1 (one) vertical slide power operated car door, 9'-0" wide X 6'-0" high, for an 8,000 lb. Capacity, C-1 Industrial Truck Loading. The car enclosure also needed to be heavy duty, therefore, Peelle provided a 9'-4" wide X 8'-"8" deep X 8'-0" high enclosure with 10 gauge, 20" wide panels.
Once installed, the freight elevator out performed the service elevators with no operational issues. This application specific solution was the right decision for the elevator stake holders.
