Specific Cases for Load Transfer between Steel and Concrete

Specific Cases for Load Transfer between Steel and Concrete

Below are two Figures illustrating?the considered Pr (compressive axial force) in the required force to be transferred to concrete (V'r) calculated in equation (I6-1), [ANSI/AISC 360-22], and should resisted within the load introduction length.

In the above Figure [1], the steel beams are directly connected?to the steel filled HSS composite column and the all column height is composite.

Hence;

(Pr) in the first floor equals P1.

(Pr) in the second floor equals P2.

(Pr) in the third floor equals P3.

where:

P1= the reaction on the column coming from the first floor only.

P2= the reaction on the column coming from the second floor only.

P3= the reaction on the column coming from the third floor only.

In the above Figure [2], the steel beams are directly connected?to the steel filled HSS composite column and?only the column in the first floor is composite.

Hence;

(Pr) in the first floor equals P1+P2+P3.

where: P1, P2 and P3 as defined previously.
