On Monday, May 23, 2022, an informal dinner for the leaders of the United States and Japan was held at Happo-en’s traditional Japanese restaurant, Kochuan.

About Kouchuan
The traditional Japanese-style restaurant “Kochuan” is located in the Japanese garden of Happo-en, which was the private residence of industrialist Fusanosuke Kuhara until 1950. Originally called "Nihonkan" (Japanese-style house), it was renamed "Kouchuan" in reference to the Chinese legend "Tien in a jar” in 1994 by the writer Shusaku Endo, who visited the area as a young man.
