While specialists generally do not bring patient attribution to the table as the majority of patient attribution is to primary care physicians in value-based care programs, there is substantial value to specialists participating in value-based care organizations (VBCs) such as Accountable Care Organizations in a variety of ways.

1 年My organizational‘s AI driven CMS compliant IT platform is exactly about taking absolute care of all the patient’s needs. Our 22,000 nurse practitioners provide the kind of support and follow up to patients visits to their physicians. Time constraints and family matters tend to decrease the level of physician care. It’s quite satisfying to have all of your needs addressed and taken care of as a patient. I have had over 28 major surgeries from multiple athletic injuries. I’ve spent hours filling out paperwork and feeling like my healthcare providers were not addressing my needs. Value-based care is not only necessary but it’s vital.

1 年This is the next frontier of value-based care and ACO. As ACOs mature, as their efficiencies improve, their ability to generate savings will fall if they only focus on the primary care aspects of healthcare. The most successful ACOs will be those that figure out how to engage the high-cost and high-volume specialists in programs that reduce cost, maintain quality, and best coordinate the patient's care with the primary care provider.
