Specialised packaging for specialised products
Unless you are a child or a cat you may not pay too much attention to the box an item is packed in but packaging is an important part of shipping and logistics. In this article I will show you some of the packing solutions I have developed at Kitagawa Europe.
At Kitagawa Europe I have worked with our custom carton and packaging manufacturers to develop the best packaging for our products. Due to the high weight and fragile nature of some of the parts we sell standard packaging is not enough. Through design and negotiation I have achieved the packing solutions below.
Cartons specifically for use on pallets
Custom-made pallet boxes printed with the Kitagawa Europe brand provide superior protection to our products in transit and can be identified easily.
These double walled (or fluted) cartons are super strong with an overall thickness of 9mm. They offer great protection with a high resistance to compression or crushing.
With stapled seams they are the ideal packing container for heavy chucks, cylinders or whole chucking systems.
Sealing and Tape
Our custom-made and Kitagawa printed polyvinyl chloride (PVC) tape is far stronger than the polypropylene type and seals cartons securely with added strength.
Strapping and banding
Polypropylene strapping provides extra strength and security to all boxes. With our electronic strapping machines the smaller boxes are strapped securely with the strapping having a breaking strain of 130kgs.
When shipping onto pallets high strength banding with a breaking strain of 180kgs is used to secure the boxes to the pallets. We also crimp the joins with steel crimps for extra strength and security.
Pallets
Depending on weight of the order and which country the order is going to depends on which type of pallet we can use. If the shipment is going outside the EU we always ensure we meet export regulations and either use a wooden heat-treated pallet (stamped with the IPPC certification as shown below) or a custom-made plywood pallet which is exempt from heat treatment.
I hope this has given you an insight to some of the care we take in the preparation and shipping of your orders to ensure it reaches its destination in perfect condition. If you any specific packing needs please feel free to contact us to discuss your requirements.
Happy Shipping!
