A Special Thursday for Leaders

A Special Thursday for Leaders

Holy Thursday marks the beginning of the Easter Triduum, which commemorates the passion, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Here are some leadership lessons that resonated with me :

  1. Gratitude: In the Last Supper, Jesus gave thanks for the bread and wine, and he encouraged his disciples to do the same. As leaders, imagine a meeting that starts with gratitude for all the team members' achievements and acknowledges the positive aspects of their work.
  2. Collaboration: Jesus gathered his disciples for the Last Supper, where they shared a meal and discussed important matters. Leaders underestimate the importance of gathering and needing to share the need for oneness despite the differences the team member may have. Including Judas, who was about to betray him and address it at the table.
  3. Humility: Jesus washed his disciples' feet to remind them that leadership is an act of service. While his followers pushed back, Jesus persisted by saying, “Unless I wash you, you have no part with me.” (John 13:8). This is not leadership by example but a reminder to be cleansed before we are ready to serve an act of self-awareness.

“I have given you an example, that you should do as I have done to you”?(John 13:15).?

4. Compassion: The importance of forgiveness of the human nature that Jesus saw in Judas for betraying him and then Peter, who denied knowing him.Fostering a culture of forgiveness and reconciliation in the workplace, where conflicts and misunderstandings are inevitable, yet holding them accountable for their choices. Was this psychological safety, I wonder?

Watching our Christian friends observe Holy Thursday, and I hope these insights resonate with you.

If you have read to this point, I am grateful you did.
