A special song for all time

“The sole purpose of this page is to provide inspiration, renewed faith, possibility, hope and love. Our best version awaits. Mental toughness and compassion is your key as the best is yet to come.”
“Music is the language of the spirit. It opens the secret of life bringing peace, abolishing strife.” — Kahlil Gibran
“Music, once admitted to the soul, becomes a sort of spirit, and never dies.” ― Edward Bulwer Lytton
“Music is the universal language of mankind.” ― Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
When I woke up this morning, I asked Alexa, “Alexa play something easy listening and inspirational.”
Alexa responded, “I’ve got the perfect playlist based on your previous selections.”
Suddenly, the song From A Distance written by Julie Gold began to play. The version that played was the one by Bette Midler.
The lyrics and music were powerful and as a result this song prompted me to do a piano cover.
After listening and performing this musical selection, I realized that this was such a special song for all time and for all people everywhere.
The question that this song raised for me is what type of world are we creating for the next generation.
What is our collective legacy?
As I pondered this question, I thought about all these young people in school today.
Possibly, the most important subject in the school curriculum that should be taught is emotional intelligence.
Bob Moawad said, “The best day of your life is the one on which you decide your life is your own. No apologies or excuses. No one to lean on, rely on or blame. The gift is yours — it is an amazing journey — and you alone are responsible for the quality of it. This is the day your life really begins.”
We all understand that when two or more are gathered there will always be a difference of opinion.
This is a healthy and productive process that leads towards the growth of any relationship, community, business, or company.
However, the thoughts, feelings, and actions that occur after the difference of opinion determine the creation or disintegration of any future possibilities.
Agreeing to disagree is healthy.
In only becomes unhealthy, when either party engages the infamous amygdala with anger, distrust, apathy, and every other toxic entity.
Most people are actually fairly street-smart and could easily discern between doing what’s right from doing what’s wrong or unjust.
When we all can take full responsibility for all our thinking, all our feelings, and all our actions only then is the world ours.
These young ears within hearing distance pick up everything good, bad or indifferent.
The real question to ask is what legacy are we leaving them?
Here are the lyrics.
FROM A DISTANCE
From a distance, the world looks blue and green
And the snow-capped mountains white
From a distance, the ocean meets the stream
And the eagle takes to flight
From a distance, there is harmony
And it echoes through the land
It's the voice of hope
It's the voice of peace
It's the voice of every man
From a distance, we all have enough
And no one is in need
And there are no guns, no bombs, and no disease
No hungry mouths to feed
From a distance, we are instruments
Marching in a common band
Playing songs of hope
Playing songs of peace
They're the songs of every man
God is watching us
God is watching us
God is watching us
From a distance

From a distance, you look like my friend
Even though we are at war
From a distance, I just cannot comprehend
What all this fighting's for
From a distance, there is harmony
And it echoes through the land
And it's the hope of hopes
It's the love of loves
It's the heart of every man (every man)
It's the hope of hopes
It's the love of loves
This is the song for every man
And God is watching us
God is watching us
God is watching us
From a distance
Oh, God is watching us
God is watching
God is watching us
From a distance
