Special September Edition | Welcome to the UX Vocab Club Newsletter :)

Hi, UX Designers and everyone else!

Welcome to the special edition of the UX Vocab Club Newsletter :)?

This month, we are launching our group workshops and new events schedule. You can save this newsletter as a reference so you know what's going on at the club all year.

We have three monthly events, seven weekly group sessions, and a few different ways you can participate.

If you're not a group training type, don't despair!! Hilary also offers one-on-one coaching and editing services and can help you prepare for an interview, improve your English, or reach your dream UX career.

The Club's Monthly Events

Three events occur once a month. Two are private, and the other is blasted all over YouTube for everyone to see!?

Let's start with the UX Vocab Club Group Event!?

It occurs on the last Tuesday of every month. August 30 was our last event, and it was awesome!!!?

If you haven't attended one yet, here's how it works.?

Hilary invites a guest, or guests, to join her live on YouTube to go through an exercise and apply the Bubble Method in different ways.?

The Bubble Method is a visual communication tool that helps you anchor thoughts to a piece of paper that you can bring with you during an interview, at meetings, or as a personal journal.

A few days ago, Stefanie León Villegas joined Hilary to learn a template to use while preparing for an interview so she could clearly articulate her UX story.?

We had Clint Lewis , Pema Riczin , Jay Ginsherman , Hanna Kavalevich , Malex Olivo, Starman, and Hovs Witness in the YouTube chat, and it was fun to have everyone interact with Stefanie :) She's currently searching for work as a UX Designer, and the support from the group was beautiful!?

It's what community is all about :) You can join Hilary and her guest on Zoom, and you will be training with them in person for $12, or you can join the YouTube chat for free.

Check out the replay, and follow along to create your killer template.

Next up, the UX Case Study Group.

Unique and private, the UX Case Study Group is a safe place for designers or anyone transitioning into UX to share their case studies and gain feedback from a wider audience than their friends and family.

Hilary hosts a special meeting for group members on the first Tuesday of every month. It's by invitation only and free to attend if you receive an invitation.

The first September 6 session will teach what components to include in any case study. The group will use the bubble method to explore this concept and get everyone on the same page.

Starting in October, Hilary will ask experts to join the private group sessions to share their case studies and show the group how to make similar presentations.? Nishant A Bali might be the special guest for October!! Fingers (*and toes*) crossed!

We meet on Zoom, and the capacity is 95 participants. The session is audio recorded, and each participant also receives a text transcript of the event for their reference later.

Finally, the most badass session of all!! Face Reading to Communicate Better with Others.

When you communicate, do you sometimes feel like you're not using the right words, tone or topic to engage with your counterpart? It's ok. Many people feel that way, too.?Like no one understands them.

Hilary used to get accused of being rude or too aggressive, and she studied face reading to understand better how to communicate. Susan Ibitz , Hilary's instructor, says, "People aren't trying to drive you crazy. It's how they process information."?

It's not about what we want to say. It's about how someone wants to hear it. Perhaps the person hears with their eyes? Or they care about people instead of facts and data.

Susan always says, "Face reading is complex, not complicated." And it's conducive to breaking down communication barriers and getting to know someone well.?

A typical comment from Hilary's live streams on YouTube is, "I feel comfortable! I forgot we were live! It's like talking to a friend."

Well, do you know what the secret sauce is? Face reading.

If you want to start learning the basics, you can join in once a month for a group workshop. This monthly group session costs $35 per workshop.

The Other Seven Weekly Group Workshops, $35 per session.

Group workshops are private events hosted by Hilary on Zoom. The capacity is 20 persons per session so that everyone can have a chance to participate appropriately.

2022 - 2023 UX Vocab Club Group Workshop Training Schedule. $35 per workshop, or 15% discount with VIP Pass, or Free with Family Pass. Workshops run from Tuesday to Friday every week.

The topics repeat every week. However, no session will ever be identical, so you can choose to attend as many as you like and always gain new knowledge.?Group Workshops run from Tuesday through Friday every week until September 2023.

Hilary is an excellent host; you will feel comfortable and more confident when you leave. And you will receive an audio recording and written transcript of the event to reference at your convenience.

Why groups?

There's a benefit to exploring ideas and concepts with others because you gain multiple perspectives and can piece a strategy together for yourself based on the data.

Seem familiar? It's very much like collaborating with your colleagues or other professionals. And collaboration is vital when it comes to user experience, right?
