The first special general meeting of the council session 2023–24 was held on August 5, 2023, as a hybrid event at the Corporate Head Office of the Institute of Town Planners Sri Lanka at Sarana Road, Colombo 07.
The main objective of the SGM was to discuss and approve the proposed amendments to the institute’s act prior to sending it to the relevant authorities to proceed with the act amendment process. The Professional Affairs Board of the current council had several pre-consultation meetings with interested groups of planners and individuals and planners to prepare a draft version of the proposed amendments to the Act. Presdent appreciated the efforts made by the PAB and relevant committees for their inputs to finalized proposed amendments to the Act.
Plnr. Veranjan Kurukulasuriya, made a presentation on the proposed amendments to the ITPSL Act. The presentation was followed by a discussion aimed at obtaining members concerns regarding proposed amendments to the Act.
The discussion was very fruitful, and most of the participants were actively involved in the discussion. The proposed amendments to the Act were approved at the SGM, subject to the amendments proposed during the session.
The corporate membership was also awarded to the newly elected members during the current council session during this SGM.
