Great leaders heap praise on their team and they help their employees understand that they are a vital part of the company’s success. This creates both loyalty and ownership, which leads to something special.
Public recognition of great work is a must-have for successful businesses. A wonderful example of this is Padman Stops’ 1% Club. This is a wonderful award that recognises influential employees and consistent effort. There is something to be said for showing up every day and just bringing it to deliver for the company.
The 1% Club is awarded monthly at the team BBQ (which I wrote previously about) and it gives that month’s top performer a chance to get accolades from peers.
We aren’t always going to have our best month every single month. But it is nice to know that there can be a system that rewards people when they step up and do the little things very well. Recognising the special effort that our employees give only motivates everyone on the team to strive for something special.
