Speaking Your Way to Success: How to Create a Pipeline of Bookings as a Professional Speaker

I've been in this industry for nearly a decade representing CEOs, Speakers, and Thought Leaders to help them Amplify their Influence and to be Bookable. Getting paid to speak requires hard work and patience! To open the door for paid speaking, it's essential to first fully understand the events you are targeting to speak at -- in essence, what is the theme of the event, who are past speakers who have been paid to speak, do they have multinational sponsors - Fortune 500 companies, what is their ticket price for attendees, do they even have a budget to pay speakers, is the Event Planner or Event Coordinator even receptive to receiving your calls or responding to your emails and all the other emails they are receiving on a daily basis, etc., etc., etc. Sadly, some speakers work on their craft for years before ever being paid.

I'm sure you already know...It takes diligence, determination, and focus to work a Pipeline of speaking opportunities that require DAILY outbound emails, follow-up emails, outbound calls, threads of call notes, whether you are actually having conversations and the massive amount of follow-up efforts that need to be in place -- all tucked nicely in your CRM System (providing you have one!). It can be a full-time role for someone on your team or an outside resource you hire to do this critical work!

In my former career as a Banker, I lived and breathed Pipeline Reports and what I know to be true is -- They Work, as long as you stay true to the outcome you are working towards and focus on closing business (Bookings). Keep your Pipeline Report to view at a Glance - DAILY and to enable you to edit as needed and ?? your progress. Get those entries to a Booking stage! If someone on your team is managing this for you - Meet with them weekly to "inspect" the Pipeline Report together to ensure the plan is working and moving in "real-time" with new entries, closed sales, and updates on the actions taken.
