This week I am in Spain traveling with Hannah Reitz as we cohost the Gifted Travel Network reward trip for some of our 2023 Top Producers. A very special thank you to Virginia Irurita and Made for Spain & Portugal for arranging this incredible trip for our group - I will definitely be sharing more about this trip next week after I return home!
Before setting up my out-of-office message, I asked GTN's Director of Engagement, Shannon Cunningham , if she would be a guest writer for me this week while I'm away. Thank you to Shannon for filling in so I can be fully present during our trip, I can't wait to read her article when I return!

In a world obsessed with titles and positions, it's easy to forget that true leadership transcends labels. As Simon Sinek wisely said, "A leader without a title is better than a title without the ability to lead."
These words resonate deeply, reminding us that it's not about the designation we hold but rather how we show up in every aspect of our lives.
Reflecting on my own journey, I've worn many hats in my career. From crafting my own whimsical title as the Chief Romance Officer (thanks to Vanessa McGovern who was my business coach at that time) at Paradise Vacation Escapes, to leading teams both big and small, I've come to realize that titles are fleeting.
This principle extends beyond the confines of the workplace, and I've witnessed the power of showing up time and time again in my personal life.
I was a wife to my husband, Richard, for 15 years before we officially said “I do" because we have been committed to each other from the start.
I was never a single mother, yet people wanted to categorize me as one. My ex-husband and I successfully co-parented our son from the time he was five until he was... well, do we ever really stop parenting?
Reflecting on my journey, I realize that titles are merely superficial labels that pale in comparison to the impact of genuine presence. I was a wife long before the wedding vows, a co-parent despite divorce, and a sister bound by love rather than blood. These roles aren't defined by titles, but by the authenticity of our actions and the depth of our connections.
What truly counts is how we show up each day, not just for others, but for ourselves too.
For me, showing up begins with a healthy dose of self-care. As a recovering people pleaser, I've discovered that taking care of me isn't selfish, it's essential. By indulging in rest, embracing healthy habits, finding moments for prayer or meditation, and yes, even a bit of play, I'm crafting the best version of myself - a version that is equipped to serve others wholeheartedly.
So as we journey through the twists and turns of our careers and our lives, let's remember that titles may come and go, but the impact of showing up for others and for ourselves with courage, compassion, and authenticity is everlasting. It's in the daily practice of leading with our hearts that we find true fulfillment and success.
So let's toss aside the titles, embrace our inner leaders, and watch as the world transforms before our very eyes. After all, leading with heart and purpose is where the real magic happens!
How do you want to show up in your job or in your life? What are you doing to ensure that you are showing up in that manner?
