And Speaking Of... Healthy Strategies

In the Fall of 2022, my travel schedule was particularly intense. It is common for travel industry events to be stacked back-to-back during this time of year. I found myself having similar conversations over and over again about health tips with my colleagues at these various events. Someone would inevitably start a conversation about how intense our schedules were, leading to chats about how we stay focused on healthy strategies on the road so frequently.

I felt inspired to share some of my practices to keep me focused on my health, and I welcome your tips in the comments below!

?

First up: IV Hydration

I am a total believer! Thanks to Sandy Adcox Saburn , who turned me on to Hydrate Medical in Huntersville, NC. I go once a month, and in November and December, I upped my game to twice a month. Travel leaves us dehydrated, which is at the crux of our exhaustion and inability to bounce back from intense periods. I get the super immune boost loaded with all kinds of vitamins. IV businesses are popping up everywhere, so do a quick Google search in your area, and I am confident you will find a facility.

I spoke to several hotel partners about the importance of adding this feature to the Spa. Personally, for road warriors like me, I would love for this to be included in hotel elite program amenities! What a great touch that would be. Hotel partners reading this: let’s make this a trend!

?

Supplements

I have a subscription to?Mind Body Green. I take sleep support, probiotics, and vitamin D. I recently ordered the metabolism + because my body hasn’t gotten the memo that we are releasing 10 pesky pounds.

I also take?Inflamma-blox, a supplement to help with inflammation. A lot of what ails us has to do with inflammation in the body. This was recommended by my chiropractor, which I swear by. If you don’t have a good chiropractor, please find one to get adjusted in between trips. He cured my acid reflux and a whole host of annoying alignments.

Although this is not a supplement, I take prolonged-release melatonin to help me sleep – especially while on the road!

?

Eye Mask?

Getting a good night’s sleep while on the road is critical, and my eye mask ritual plays a vital role. I have?a headset that massages my temples and plays soothing music?that helps trigger me to fall asleep. I travel with this if I can squeeze it in my carry-on, but for trips when I check luggage, like Virtuoso Travel Week and ILTM , I have this device on my nightstand which helps me wind down after all the buzz of the day.

?

Meditation?

Starting your day with a calm and quiet mind is critical for not slipping into a pattern where your day runs you, and you are not in control. On the days I don’t meditate, I find myself triggered easily, and anxiety starts to creep in more frequently. I toggle between the Insight Timer App or listen to an Abraham-Hicks meditation on YouTube.

For 2023, I am committed to working out more frequently. I know that is a new year resolution cliché, but my road warrior ways are not doing my body any favors in the long term, and I must prioritize my health. I have used my Peloton consistently this month and hired a personal trainer. I go on Wednesday evening after my stop at a local salon with a sauna. This is my mid-week self-care ritual that I am super happy I instituted.?

What are your tips for staying healthy in 2023? I am looking forward to hearing from you!

Thank you for sharing! Your headset sounds amazing. We all need to be reminded of these healthy strategies. I’m not on the road too much in January and February and have been able to focus on Pilates, walking and reading development books.
