Being a generalist just doesn’t work in the speaking industry.?
Why?
Because when you try to be all things to all people, you become known for nothing.
That’s why I am constantly reminding my students and clients about the importance of picking a lane—choosing one topic and becoming known for that one thing.
But in this #SpeakerSuccessTip, I want to take this idea even further.
I want to encourage you to become THE problem solver for one specific problem.
Listen in below.
Maybe instead of being known for just one?topic, you narrow it down to?one single problem?and become THE problem solver for that specific issue.

Being an expert on solving that one problem means that whenever clients experience the problem, they will immediately turn to you as their go-to person.
And when their friends and colleagues have that problem? Yup, YOU are the problem solver that they will recommend.
As you contemplate being THE problem solver for a specific issue, I encourage you to read Joe Calloway’s?Becoming a Category of One . He explains why differentiating your business is the key to success (whether it is a multinational corporation or a one-person speaking business!).
I also have several resources on my blog that will help you pick a lane, define your niche, and choose what problem solver you will be—including a fabulous podcast with Joe Calloway himself.
Check out these articles, and spend some time thinking about what ONE problem you solve so you can become known as THE problem solver in this area.
See you soon, Wealthy Speakers!
