SPEAKERS’ RETURN

SPEAKERS’ RETURN

During a broadcast interview recently I likened a great speech to a great film. https://www.dhirubhai.net/in/elliotcreeves/detail/recent-activity/shares/

My conviction is that a great speech challenges, entertains, bewilders, enthralls and inspires. It captivates and keeps you on the edge of your seat. That is precisely what a great film achieves.

Great speakers make us sit up, excite and enthrall us and leave a lasting impression. We repeat nuggets of what we heard them say and vividly recall not just what they said but how they made us feel. They spark something in us that changes our outlook forever.

As a speaker, I want to influence my audience – why else would I bother? Of course, I want to engage, entertain, captivate, inform but, it is ultimately about persuasion. Memorable speakers manage to do all of these.

In this age of uncertainty, we need voices of hope and inspiration. While the media obsess with political controversy and opposition and, use the same voices again and again, a new opportunity is emerging. The return of the live speaker.

When Gladstone made a speech in 1880’s Edinburgh he kept an audience on its feet for over four hours. He also inspired a new direction in British foreign policy. Greater brevity may now be the order of the day but, a great speaker, like a great film will leave something in our hearts and minds forever.

If you want to bring hope and excitement back into the future and empower your audience to be the solution speak to me, Mike Stevenson on 07778 781846.
