Tell us a bit about yourself and how you’ve ended up where you are today.?

I grew up in a 100+ year old family business. From a young age, I saw the importance of financial stability as a necessary foundation for the trust and teamwork it takes to run a business. As I grew into a CFO, I kept that close-knit mentality - to be an integral member of the team and partner to the business, at all levels.? My upbringing drove me to couple my understanding of finance with my passion for running a business - especially a smaller, growing and scaling business. That created a very exciting a fulfilling path where I can make a big impact in VC and PE backed businesses.

Where is the greatest innovation in finance happening right now?

Technology, technology, technology.?

I met with Netsuite this week and no longer are they just an ERP platform, but they have a solution that rivals Looker / Tableau now.? I am not sure how “innovative” I would call it, but just as HRIS systems have become one stop shops for all tech needed to run an HR department, ERP systems like Netsuite are becoming platforms that don’t require any additional technologies (or very few) within a finance team to more efficiency run a finance department.?

What is the number one skill a finance leader needs to have in today’s world?

The ability to understand and diagnose complex issues quickly (related to finance, but also all potential areas of your company), and then develop an action plan that can be executed quickly. When business is great, awesome, but when challenges arise that is when you earn your stripes.?

The quicker you can act, the more you can solve or at least minimize the impact.
