Speak effectively: Reduce the use of fillers
What are fillers? These are sounds and words that take up space in your conversation but don’t provide any meaning. We use fillers to give us time to formulate our next sentence. Words and sounds such as like, you know, okay, umm, and ah are all fillers. These fillers distract from your message and maybe annoying to your audience.
Everyone uses fillers, even the best speakers. One way to find out how often you rely on crutches and fillers is to record yourself making a presentation and then listen to it. Or ask a friend or colleague to give you honest feedback about your speech.
Listen to my podcast to learn some tips to reduce the use of fillers. We offer free strategy sessions. We will discuss your communication needs and goals and then we will give you the steps needed to reach your goals. Schedule a session on our website or message on Linkedin.

4 年I remember a math teacher I had in undergrad. English was obviously his second language. The math made sense when he put it on the board but when it came out of his mouth, I had such a hard time comprehending. I am not sure how long he stayed at that school. I imagine his time was limited. It only took me about 4 classes and I had to change teachers. Looking back, I wish he had someone like you. I hope he found his Margaret.
