SpatialXL is a versatile and powerful retail analytics tool

Analysing and interpreting data in Microsoft Excel can be challenging.? This is particularly true when the data has many different fields.? When facing a spreadsheet with lots of columns and thousands of rows it is almost impossible to interpret this data at a glance.

It is for this reason that Excel offers graphs, pie charts, pivots and so forth.? However, if your data sets are related to geographical locations, such as retail outlets or distribution centres, then having the ability to overlay this data on a map would be ingenious.?

SpatialXL* does exactly that. SpatialXL is an add-in to Microsoft Excel and works seamlessly with 2D or 3D data. Data can be mapped directly from a worksheet, within the Excel environment, and a live link is maintained between the map and the Excel data. Thus as you filter, sort, change or update your spreadsheet it reflects directly on the maps, in real time.

Users typically need Microsoft Excel experience but very little mapping or GIS knowledge and experience is necessary.

The advantages of SpatialXL

  • Being simple and easy to use.
  • It is a fully fledged GIS product which offers heat mapping, spatial analysis, thematics, routing and a lot more, but is still simple to use.?
  • It allows for the publishing your maps and workbooks, to standalone reader files, that can be viewed on machines that don’t have SpatialXL installed**.

Recommended by the Frontline Research Group

The Frontline Research Group offer SpatialXL as an add-on to their range of services, and licenses and training are easily acquired and implemented.

Where the Frontline Research Group really excels (pun intended) is that it has vast amounts of retail data sets that are Geolocated and can be integrated with SpatialXL. As a management and decision making tool, SpatialXL, when combined with good data, is unbeatable.

At a glance it is now possible to determine retail densities and hotspots.? Distribution centres and sales offices, as well as marketing, advertising and activations can all be viewed, relative to the retail environment. With this data, route to market, distribution and rep routing can all be visualized and optimised.

Overlay population census data, or any number of other data sets, and you have a whole new view of the retail environment and opportunities become more obvious.

If you have your own customer base, the Frontline Research Group can reverse Geocode the physical address of these clients and add it to SpatialXL.

RouteXL*

RouteXL is an add-in to SpatialXL and comes in two versions;? RouteXL and Route XL Plus. RouteXL? performs operations to do with Drive Time or Distance analysis, Travelling Salesman calculations, Set-to-Set Routing allocations, Point-to-Point routing and Matrix route calculations.

RouteXL Plus, also known as QVR (Quantitative Vehicle Routing) is used for optimized fleet planning and routing with different truck sizes, demands per point, shift times, time at depot, delay time and time windows.??
