Spatial delivery ??

Hey there! This week Apple and Meta went head(set) to head(set) in launching their new augmented reality devices. Apple CEO Tim Cook declared this “an era of spatial computing” which is "the most important technology since the smartphone."

So, will these devices usher in a new dawn of ‘spatial communications’ in workplaces? From a comms perspective, this technology seems more suited to remote workers, yet Meta has just mandated employees to return to the office.

If we see more of these mandates, the purpose of these headsets for comms becomes less certain. Perhaps they will have value for globally dispersed organizations but isn’t it just simpler to join a virtual meeting from your laptop?

I do believe these devices will provide value in areas like training and onboarding, but for comms? I really can’t see IT departments ordering this costly hardware for every worker. Hey, we can dream, right?
