Spatial Biology products and companies
Sept 18, 2023
I attended the BioTrac Spatial Biology Symposium on Sept 15-16, 2023,
(start planning to attend the 2024 meeting!). Christian Schurch reeled off several products and companies (Schurch lab has tested and used several). I've added a few more in the table below.

SeqStain ... Vineet Gupta, Rush University Medical Center
Rajagopalan ... V. Gupta 2021 SeqStain is an efficient method for multiplexed, spatialomic profiling of human and murine tissues. Cell Rep Methods 1(2): 100006. doi: 10.1016/j.crmeth.2021.100006.

* not marked for spatial biology. Not shown: most slide scanner products and vendors.
==> Technology, not a product: Expansion Microscopy (ExM), in all its variants. Typically 4x expansion in each of XYZ dimensions (also optical clearing ... and 64x more data).

1 年Spatial transcriptomics aka single molecule RNA FISH options - at a recent (9/2023) lab seminar at JHU mentioned HCR = Hybridization Chain Reaction is $90 per probe set, and has not run out of any probe set after "many" slides. I will interpret (interpolate? extrapolate?) many to being at least 20 slides, probably less than 90 slides, so HCR about $4 per slide. For comparison: per slide (ex. 10x10 mm tissue section or near confluent single cells): $4/slide HCR, Molecular Instruments $7/slide STELLARIS smFISH, LGC Biosearch $15/slide (maybe more) RNAscope, ACDBio/Biotechne (BioTechne recently acquired Lunaphore, wrt above article). ~$1/slide, Prof. Bin Wu, JHU, in lab, buying unlabeled oligo probe set(s) from IDT-DNA (Danaher), and labeling in lab with reactive fluorophores bought at bulk for ~$1100 for 100 mg compared to ~100 for 1 mg (ignoring labor, aliquoting/storage, etc, academic medical center lab costs). Bin also includes in his initial order PCR handles, so can "PCR up" additional aliquots.
