Venture Capital investment in Deep Tech shows resilience in 2024
Europe overtook Asia in Deep Tech investment for the first time in 2024. While still behind the US, it showed resilience, with VC funding down only 3%, compared to a 45% drop in the US. Europe’s share of global funding grew from 10% in 2019 to 19% in 2023, driven by ecosystems in Germany, the UK, and hubs like Cambridge, which raised $1.6 billion in early 2024.
AI continues to shape Deep Tech, powering innovations like explainable AI, privacy-enhancing tech, and machine vision sensors. This increased demand for AI and data centers drives exponential growth in semiconductors projected to hit $1.3 trillion in revenues by 2030! We also see emerging trends in humanoid robots, nanorobotics, and the continued growth of 3D printing in aerospace, automotive, and healthcare. Europe is a leader in decarbonization and sustainable energy such as green hydrogen, next-gen solar, and hybrid energy systems.
The Deep Tech industry is growing thanks to the amazing work of everyone involved. We are really happy to be part of this journey and to bring innovations that are solving big challenges in the world to the right markets!

This year, the Sparksense team attended some of the most exciting conferences across Semiconductor, Electronics, and Photonics industries, where we represented clients like Photonfirst, Photonicsens, and others. Our Advisors explored new growth opportunities at events such as the PIC Summit in Eindhoven and Photonic Integration Week in Valencia. We discussed at CEA LETI in Grenoble, how surging industry investments and strong partnerships drive the development of resource-efficient Semiconductor technologies.?
At Electronica & Semicon and Vision Stuttgart, we engaged with clients including Spectricity and Wise Integration, and discussed key themes such as the All-Electric Society and advancements in machine vision.
