Sparkle up your resume this Diwali??

Diwali, the festival of lights in India is a mark for the victory of good over evil and it's my all-time favorite. This year it’ll be celebrated on 24th Oct’22.
Getting back to the topic, your resume is a way for employers/recruiters to get a better sense of who you are as a professional. I've been getting your queries and it's clear that you're looking for help with your resume, at the same time I know you're busy thus I've made it easy for you - simply follow this newsletter on how to update these core sections in your Resume.
You need to make sure your resume is well-written, clear and concise. It doesn't need unnecessary details or flowery language but just what's relevant. Here’s how to update each section:
Name | City/Country | Contact Information - Keep the same name in all places so that it’s easier to find you. Add the city depending on where you’d like to settle and update the latest contact information so that the reader can reach out to you right away.
Headline - In the headline mention your domain for easy reference. The reader should know what have you submitted your application for, even without looking at the details in the resume.
Professional Summary - Add a brief introduction of your experience, in a way telling the reader - what are you good at, what all can you manage, how have you been important at work, what value did you stir and why should they read ahead?
Fact check - everyone is trying to convey the best on their resume, so be sure to sound fresh or unique in your own way and quantify your achievements.
Skills - Adding random skills doesn’t help thus Google for essential skills depending on your target domain. It’s a good idea to check out multiple job descriptions for the target role so that your skills will pair up with similar roles.
Work Experience - Go back about a decade or so to highlight your accomplishments through the roles that you’ve handled in these years. Your early years of experience are okay to add but highlighting the recent roles would work better because all one wants to know is what are your recent wins. Not to miss, start with the current role first (reverse chronology).
Education - Add your latest education only to save space on the resume and I recommend skipping the dates if it was way too in the past.
Certifications/Professional Courses/Memberships - Skill development is powerful hence add your professional certifications & courses to reflect continuous learning and also add the ones that you are currently pursuing.
Awards/Recognition - You can add awards with the work experience/role itself and skip adding it as a separate section. Whichever way you may choose to add it, explain what did you get the award for? It's important to reflect that why was the recognition special for you.

Military folks this is particularly for you:
Remember to translate the language for non-military readers or else it won’t make any sense to those who have little or no clue of military jargon. Last but not the least, getting your resume reviewed by another pair of eyes will always prove beneficial.
