Sparking “human magic” to create a business for the future

A few years ago, many of us did not think much about empathy and vulnerability as important leadership qualities.?But my friend Hubert Joly, author of “The Heart of Business” and former CEO of Best Buy, has proven that by abandoning old leadership models we can lead with greater purpose -- and spark “human magic” to create businesses of the future. In my latest On Purpose conversation, Hubert talked candidly about the moment many years ago when he realized his wildly successful career did not bring him joy or meaning. That’s when he began a new journey and made a seismic shift in the way he thinks about and carries out his work.

“I wanted to share a different vision of business and leadership, a vision that puts people in the center and embraces all stakeholders in a declaration of interdependence.”

My conversation with Hubert reinforces what I have found true, especially in these uncertain times: We can make a positive difference in the world, for each other and for our businesses when we work together toward a common purpose.
