A Spark of Inspiration: Maya's Journey to the World of Jewelry

From a young age, Maya demonstrated a strong passion for design, actively participating in numerous designing competitions. Her creative spirit was evident, showcasing her talent and enthusiasm for artistic expression.

As we all know, our surronding environment influence us in our way of thinking, decision making and even when it comes to career, same happened with Maya. She grew in a family where her aunt was having a small jewellery retail store and was visiting the shop on different occasions.

Maya was observing customers try on necklaces and rings, their faces lighting up as they admired their look in the mirror. She didn’t just pay attention to the jewelry; she also noticed the feelings that certain jewellery pieces brings in. These experiences sparked a desire to know more about the business & started visiting the store whenever she had the opportunity.

She did not realize at that time how this simple act of observing customers would significantly contribute to her future career.

Over the period of time she started helping her aunt showing the jewellery pieces to the customers and interacting with them, then she understood one thing that there is a lack of designs available that customers actually needed.

Maya asked her aunt about the possibility of providing the preffered designs of the customers.

Her aunt replied, "We source jewelry from wholesalers and sell it in the store. If customers request specific designs, those would need to be manufactured, which can be a complex process. Sometimes customers are not happy, resulting in returning the product. Therefore, I usually sell what is available in the market."

This made Maya to think about the gap between the customers and business.

One day, while browsing social media, Maya came across an advertisement of Jewellery Manufacturing Course offered by IIG South. She realized that this course could provide her with the skills needed to address her aunt's challenges in fulfilling customer preferences and she also can make an income source.

She visited the institute and enrolled in a comprehensive training program in jewelry making and its various processes.

Upon completion of the course, Maya felt confident in her ability to assist her aunt with designing. Inspired by her newfound skills, she envisioned launching her own brand focused on customized jewelry solutions. This venture would not only cater to individual customer needs but also serve jewelry retailers, effectively addressing a gap in the market.
