SPARK
One morning, as I was heading to work, I noticed a few contractors who had been doing some work on our house. Instead of hurrying to my car, I decided to take a moment to pause, and engage with them. I approached them to offer a genuine compliment, acknowledging the quality of their work. I said, "I really appreciate what you guys are doing; everything looks fantastic."
At that moment, on the hardened face of a rugged construction worker, I saw the impact of those words. It was heartwarming to see his reaction. He lit up with a smile, and I could see a little spark in his eye. His countenance changed.
We all need to be noticed.
My comment to them wasn’t fake or forced.? It was genuine.? But too often, I feel a real nudge in my heart but fail to vocalize.? I stay silent.? I miss an opportunity to impact.
Even grown people are still little boys and girls.? We need to be seen.? Valued.
This experience reminded me of the need for more kindness and acknowledgment. Each day, we encounter people who deserve a compliment or need reassurance that their work matters.
Imagine the difference we could make if we all took a moment to recognize and affirm each other’s efforts.?
Your words can brighten someone's day and be a source of inspiration. You can fan the flame of encouragement that may blossom into something truly impactful.
It only takes a spark.
