SPAR and SAP: What went wrong?

Good afternoon. I took a deep dive into the world of change management recently, looking specifically at what went wrong with Spar's SAP implementation a couple of years back. I spoke to Brett McDougall, Spar CIO, who remembers it was like "walking into a firestorm" when he joined the retailer in July 2023. In hindsight, he says there were some problems in the development and testing process, and in the way it trained people. McDougall is also in charge of rolling out SAP in other regions, which he thinks is going to be a smoother process.
We've also got a column that looks at how the world is developing a case of "robot fever". Our writer thinks that although there's a lot of excitement about robots making coffee and stacking boxes, the real revolution will be in autonomous surgical robots. While there's isn't widespread adoption just yet, give it two or three decades and it may be the norm.
