Spaciotempo Company News: Reflecting on a successful summer of structures?????

Reflection of canopy modifications at The Very Group, Wrexham, against a sunny backdrop.

Spaciotempo HQ has been buzzing with activity through July, August and September. Worry not, however, we've wrapped it up all up in in our latest instalment of #SpaciotempoCompanyNews.

In this quarter alone, we've delivered over 25 new installations with a combined floor space of 12,900sqm.

But for those who haven't yet used Spaciotempo, this edition highlights just how many businesses often barely scrape by with limited covered space before partnering with us, in contrast to the significant boost in productivity they experience after implementing our solutions on site, which help them maximise their space and reach their full potential. Under the microscope and proving this to be true are two case studies featuring two temporary workshops used for two very different reasons - but all to help two of our valued customers.

Plus, be sure to keep checking back to our website for more helpful insights to help answer any temporary building related questions you might have, such as our latest 'Do Temporary Buildings Need Foundations?' FAQ's blog.

?? Case Study: Temporary Workshop & Testing Building | Storage Canopies | NOV Hydra Rig ??

Building with limited space is our speciality. NOV Hydra Rig, Great Yarmouth.

NOV Hydra Rig, the world’s leading manufacturer of coiled tubing, nitrogen, and snubbing equipment in the drilling and production industry, needed a temporary workshop and testing building as well as two temporary canopies for storage. They decided an increased focus was needed to provide a duty of case for their staff so they were no longer working outside, as well as a covered storage space for their very specialist equipment, which they were limited for previously.

It was thanks to an excellent relationship and multiple site visits from our expert South-East Sales Manager Harry, who reassuringly addressed any questions or concerns from enquiry through to building sign off, that proceeding with Spaciotempo was the right choice.

The new workshop and testing building and two storage canopies were individually structurally calculated and installed in a limited amount of space to fit within a yard that had existing buildings already in place. Temporary buildings allow for this kind of flexibility, where non-standard shapes and configurations of all kinds are required to mould and adapt themselves within an already fully functioning industrial environment.

Hydra Rig are already getting great use out of the new structures to house their heavy-duty equipment and test they are in full working order before dispatching them worldwide.

Heavy-duty equipment, of course, comes in lots of unconventional shapes and sizes that demand wider and taller access into the buildings. The main temporary workshop and testing facility was fitted with a customised 4.8m high x 6.3m wide door to allow for them to be transported in and out easily without complication. This door was so tall, it sat just 20cm away from the top of the walling.

Also bespoke were the flexible hire terms, where Hydra Rig initially will rent temporary buildings from us for a minimum of 12 months but have the option to extend the terms on a rolling basis or even purchase outright if determine the solutions satisfy a longer-term and more permanent need.

The lasting impression left not just by Harry but the quality of the structures themselves has prompted Hydra Rig to enter discussions with Spaciotempo already about further temporary workshop and testing buildings at their Beacan Park facility, for the purpose of storing parts and refurbishing equipment.

???? Blog: “A one stop shop for any building I need!” Loyal customer John K Philips explains his trust in Spaciotempo temporary buildings ????

In with the old and in with the new. Two Spaciotempo buildings built 10 years apart stand side by side.

"We’ve always got a solution for our temporary building situation."

John Philips, CEO

The resounding words of one of our most loyal temporary building customers. Stood inside one of his three Spaciotempo buildings at his businesses’ site in Warrington, with a further two situated in nearby Golborne, John Philips expresses how he wouldn’t want to go any where else for his transport and logistics requirements.

These comments are music to the ears for all at Spaciotempo HQ. As a business, we’ve always prided ourselves on our relationship building and customer retention rate. John isn’t the only customer who fits this mould, but his is a nice story too. At 75 years old, he’d be forgiven for retiring long ago but instead, he still remains a fundamental fixture of the business he started 50 years ago to the year.

John started with just one truck, which still stands proudly outside the reception entrance to this day, and literally grew his business from the ground up. Spaciotempo first came onto his radar 13 years ago, when he looked for a canopy solution to finally bring loading and unloading operations inside rather than outside, and one that offered accessibility through to the warehouse. For John, it took just two things for him to choose us, and for it to spawn that everlasting relationship: the best solution, and the best price. He still maintains that Spaciotempo meet that criterion to this day.

Aside from the 2023 install, these buildings aren’t new by any stretch of the imagination and this isn’t a typical ‘very latest building’ case study as we’d normally promote. Instead, it’s a success story championing how Johns’ business has thrived with and because of our products and services. John sums this up perfectly when he says:

”At times, we’ve had to use the temporary buildings for storage because we’re that busy. We’ve filled the buildings with stock, and of course if you’ve got buildings full of stock it’s creating revenue (which) that building is allowing us to do."

We love nothing more than seeing our solutions help companies solve their spatial needs and boost profits. Ultimately, that’s exactly what we do it for – we’re in the business of helping your business thrive. Our bespoke temporary structures are built to last so that customers have peace of mind they can rely on their building to provide for their unique requirements for years to come. John’s first building is coming up to 13 years old, but some of our other customers have had theirs for 25+ years and counting. Our start to finish approach, including aftercare (MOT’s & servicing) and maintenance, help make this possible.

?? Case Study: Temporary Maintenance Workshops | Staff Welfare Facilities | Belfast Grand Central Station ??

Spaciotempo's temporary maintenance workshops and staff welfare facilities in the very early stages of the build of Belfast Grand Central Station.

Spaciotempo were first contacted in 2017 to play a significant role in a major construction project to relocate, revamp, and reopen Belfast’s Grand Central Station. Work began in earnest in 2021 meaning our involvement has spanned over 7 years so far, longer than most other sub-contractors involved in the build. The tender required the supply and install of three project management buildings to facilitate and support ongoing operations from start to finish. Namely, it was to deliver temporary maintenance workshops and a staff welfare building.

The sheer portability of temporary infrastructure – to adapt it to and erect it within live building sites – and our ability to deliver a structurally calculated investment on-time and on-budget for the duration of the project were both contributing factors. However, our proven track record of working with Tier One construction companies like those leading here is why we were chosen as the preferred supplier.

Spaciotempo have contributed three Neivalu structures to the site, all of which have been ever present assets for Translink, the primary operator, to utilise throughout the course of the train station build. Versatile in their use, and fully supporting the ‘Your Industry. Our Solutions’ maxim we pride ourselves on, all three structures have served man and machine during their time on site. Furthermore, they are fully bespoke temporary workshop buildings in their design and execution.

The first two buildings are gutterlinked together, facilitating ease of access between the two. The left-hand building, narrower in appearance, serves as a bus wash facility and is kept watertight with the use of Z flashing and an internal rain screen partition wall. The right-hand building, seemingly wider, also comes complete with several bespoke customisations such as integrated wicket doors within three of the six electric roller shutter doors installed.

Both buildings are, however, deceptive in that a ground floor storage room and upper floor raised platform with stairs protrude from building two inside building one to connect them. This unique configuration is rarely achievable in permanent construction and certainly not at the speed of install. In all, the temporary maintenance workshop offers 905.5m2 of covered space.

The third building – situated just separately and 300m2 in size – serves the various workers and sub-contractors looking for staff mess amenities. These temporary staff welfare facilities and break out rooms for construction projects serve that exact purpose, and with its ventilation ducts and windows aplenty Spaciotempo have created a naturally inviting space to unwind and take a moment out. ?Additionally, this building serves an important role as a training hub for when not being utilised for other purposes.

Over the course of the last 4 years, our temporary bus wash and refuel depot has helped Translink continue running their services and keep disruption to a minimum despite the work going on around them, while our temporary staff welfare facilities offered much needed breakout space for workers to rejuvenate and ultimately, improve their morale, output and productivity.
