SpaceX is sending two tourists over the Moon, Uber's engineering chief is out, and more news

Elon Musk gets deposits for another product that doesn't exist, and the real Oscars fiasco is the ratings. Read on...

SpaceX says it will send two tourists on a Moon flyby next year using a Dragon 2 spacecraft operated from Earth. These two unidentified thrill seekers paid a "significant deposit" for the joy ride, Elon Musk said, without specifying who or how much. The Dragon 2 — developed for NASA — is only scheduled to fly its first mission with people in Q2 2018, which makes the launch schedule extremely ambitious.

Uber's bad month keeps getting worse: Engineering chief Amit Singhal is out after not disclosing sexual harassment allegation at his previous employer, Google, ReCode reports. Google found the allegation against the "highly regarded engineer" credible; Singhal denied it then and now. But given the backlash created by former Uber engineer Susan Fowler's description of discriminatory and sexist episodes, CEO Travis Kalanick asked for and got Singhal's resignation.

Warren Buffett bought 120 million Apple shares in January. The "Oracle of Omaha" now owns about $18 billion worth of the company — but not an iPhone — he disclosed in a wide-ranging interview on CNBC.

President Trump's budget won't be official until next month but the White House said it will propose a 10% increase in defense spending — some $54 billion — offset by cuts in "other federal agencies by the same amount," The Washington Post reports. (Photo: Kevin Lamarque/Reuters)

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is surely still smarting from the Best Picture fiasco. Perhaps even worse, though, is another dip in the ratings for what is considered the crown jewel of the awards season. A million fewer people tuned in than last year, ratings were the worst since 2008, and in the 18-49 demographic, viewership was down 13%. (Photo: Mike Blake/Reuters)

The Dow extended its winning streak to 12 consecutive days, its longest run since 1987. The driver still seems to be anticipation of Trump administration plans for tax reform and deregulation; the president will address a joint session of Congress Tuesday night in what in other years would be a State of the Union address.

If we are serious about space exploration for humankind let's start with our leaders. To date not one person who has successfully traveled into space has returned without a life changing perspective on the human race. I will leave it to your imagination which country we should begin with but sometimes starting in ones own backyard can make a world of difference literally!

Got to bullshit on this. So these two idiots that gave the money away, are they going to request a refund when this doesn't happen?
