Delighted to be invited to be a panellist, along with my OU colleague, Dr Helen Fraser, for a dedicated session at the two day SPACEtalks 4.0 event held at the European Space Agency Convention Centre, in Harwell, last week.
The organisers described the event as follows :
"We are proud to present the fourth edition of our SPACEtalks event, a space inspired conference with a commercial focus. Bringing together the brightest minds in the industry, government experts and industry professionals.
SPACEtalks expects to hold powerful presentations and discussions regarding space tech and the future of the industry. Designed for aerospace, related industry professionals, decision-makers at aerospace, commercial organisations, start-ups, governmental agencies and academia, SPACEtalks is a one-of-a-kind space tech event with thought-provoking discussions about space R&I and current trends, whilst providing the opportunity to network in person in this cutting-edge industry."
The panel session was chaired by Stuart Laws (Portfolio and Outreach Assistant Head at the Ministry of Defence Innovation Unit) and covered our experiences of translating fundamental university research to developing commercial solutions across a range of sectors.
The session was well received and the event provided an excellent networking opportunity, both in terms of meeting up with existing collaborators and in providing the ideal opportunity to make new contacts.
Thanks to David Arnot (OU Astrophysics PhD Student) for the introduction to Stuart and for the photo. Thanks also to Cosmonauts, ESA, the event sponsors, exhibitors and other speakers for making it such an enjoyable and useful event.
