The Spaceman - Render Challenge #7 Top 5
Another week, another render challenge organized by my colleague Fabio Palvelli. Seven straight weeks of challenges have now come and gone, leaving us with a huge amount of amazing work submitted by artists from around the world.
Apparently, people love a good space theme, and the number of entries certainly reflected that fact. The only requirement for The Spaceman Render Challenge was to use the spaceman model provided by the talented artist, Domenico D'Alisa, as a main thematic element. Make sure to follow his work here.
There were a lot of great insights given during the judging as well as a lot of laughs - you really owe it to yourself to check it out below. I was joined on the judging panel this week by Eleonora Galimberti, Sava Zivkovic, and David Ariew.
With almost 100 entries, it was quite difficult for each of the judges to pick their own top 10. When these were combined, we were left with a total of 27 images to start the judging. After much discussion, we finally narrowed it down to a consensus top 10. Then the hard part starts - each judge must unilaterally decide on one image to remove from the top 10. From the remaining top 5, we vote. The method of voting we use is simple. Each judge orders the remaining five images from 1st to 5th place. Those votes are tallied up, resulting in the final order. This week was a close one, and Fabio was called in to give his votes to help break a tie. It wasn't much help as the final tally had a tie for second and third place, but we left it as-is with first place coming in with 13 points and second and third narrowly behind with 14 points each.
The first place entry from Esther Rodriguez and Juan Ramos.
The second place (tie) entry from Michael Khoo.
The second place (tie) entry from Mario Rocha.
The fourth place entry from Vittorio Bonapace.
The fifth place entry from Fabrizio Arienti.
