A "5ks" Spaced Repetition for Workflowy
This post isn't about evaluation or AI! I'll revert to form soon! If you use Workflowy, read on!
If you want to remember stuff, you have to use spaced repetition!
If you use Workflowy you might be interested in my super-simple spaced repetition system. Just like Workflowy itself, it's minimalist, but it works. It's the first such system I've actually stuck to using (18 months already and going strong!)
Creating the items
I tag the prompt for anything I want to remember with #kkkkk. Then I indent the answer underneath like this:
Creating the searches
In my starred searches I have these tags:
#kkkkk
#kkkk -#kkkkk
#kkk -#kkkk
#kk -#kkk
领英推荐
#k -##k
Using the searches
Every day I click on the first search (#kkkkk), and I get a page like this:
I try to remember the answers, and check by opening the items to see the correct answers.
For any items I remember correctly, I just delete one k from the end of the tag, or if I'm super sure I will still know it in a month, I delete two or even three ks.
Every week I look at the second saved search, which finds all items with 4 ks, but not 5 ks. ?If I know it, I delete one or more ks. If I don't, I add them back.
Every month I look at the next saved search, to find items with just 3 ks, and so on.
Tips
It's important to make the process of tagging new material as quick and simple as possible, so I created an AutoHotKey script to speed up the process of adding #kkkkk, new line, indent.
I don't try to be too tidy with exactly what is the prompt and what is the answer. I often import stuff via the bookmarklet and I'll just quickly hack #kkkkk a few times into the middle of the text and rearrange it a bit.
That's it! Let me know if it suits you or if you manage to hack my hack.
