Space Rated Carbon Composition Resistors...

and, perhaps a Mono Lisa Painting.

With my varied career in Electronics and Quality Assurance ending... I am exploring new activities for my retirement. Leonardo da vinci and his Mono Lisa have nothing to fear. An Allan Bradley poster was the masterpiece that hung over my Receiving Inspection workbench. I do endeavor (in retirement) to pick up a few brushes, tubes of paint and a canvas. It would seem artistic inspiration was staring me in the face every day. The Resistor Color Code chart mirrors the Color Wheel. I was fascinated with the 'Space Rated' color band on the poster. That one extra band reminded me of how close Orlando was to Cape Kennedy. As a matter of specification and source control. The details of purchasing that Space Rated resistor are exact. Today, excepting more power hungry electronics... that color code is now gone with surface mount devices changing the old electronic Mono Lisa look. As Change Control Coordinator (for World Access)... as a contract manufacturer I verified assemblies to presented documentation. In the age of through hole technology and some surface mount this was kinda like doing crossword puzzles with a time limit. I would load the Item Masters, Item Balances and build a product structure. The purchasing agents were off to the races then. A reference here: to Red Lining a Document... if a discovered issue needs to be approved. That Space Rated resistor specification would be in a manufacturer number. One number or letter difference would get a different animal. So, Mono Lisa might just be in the art of building electronics too. The process of building electronics is a dance of sorts. Small surface mount devices are assembled first. The artistic looking; big through hole devices are added later. A mix, people and machines are choreographed into producing the electronics we depend upon everyday.Much of what I did is automated now. I had my data books, product trees and schematics all around. My paint brush was accuracy. Now I hope it is on a canvas.

Your like or other funny emoticon appreciated.
